NYJC is located in the middle of the HDB heartlands
of Serangoon. There's a big canal leading to the JC, and during monsoon
season, students are treated to look into the canal to observe floods
at a safe spot.
To put it bluntly, this is where all the good students go after they did
surprisingly badly for their 'O' Levels, or they missed entry into their
first choice JCs because they fell short of the expected aggregate by
one or two points.
Such is the nature of the competition at this standard. As a result, NYJC
is full of students with great potential to excel. Look out for the Nanyang
dogs roaming the school, they are quite friendly and don't bite.
By the way, if you happen to be a student here, you'd do well not to be
late for school. Students who have been caught 7 times or more will be
made to pose for the art-elective students as an art model for one-and-a-half
hours. Lucky or unlucky, depending on who you are *winks*
