| Q: |
Who the hell are we? |
| A: |
Well, we are local 'O' Level graduates who have struggled
through the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE). The most common problem
we encounter is that information that we really want is not easily
obtained.
Not until now.
What we provide are readily obtainable information from the respective
JCs, as well as some survey results we get from the students
of these particular JCs. This is what we call inside information
;)
This will be a much more accurate ranking of the JCs, for there really
is more to JC education than the ability to churn out top-graduates,
right? You can't find the information we have here on the Straits Times
or MOE website, because all these stuff are written for students,
by students! We emphasize on stuff that students really care for
such as canteen food, attractive uniforms and number of chiobus &
yandaos!
We know you don't want to waste 2 years of your life in a JC you hate
so this site was set up.

|
| Q: |
What is our objective? |
| A: |
To update others on the real situation happening in the respective
JCs. We try to be as accurate as we can. |
| |
|
| Q: |
How can I help? |
| A: |
The JC reviews are done through phone interviews with friends
who are in the respective JCs. Therefore, we can't do reports on JCs
where our friends are not lucky (or unlucky) enough to get into. They are greatly appreciated. |

| Q: |
Is there any JC which start school at 10am and
end at about 1pm? |
| A: |
Reply 1: Only polytechnics have these type of schedules.
Reply 2: In your dreams buddy! If that's the case, I wouldn't
have such big eye bags hanging like Grandma's sagging boobs already.
All JCs start school at 7.30am. During CCA days (eg. on Wednesday) school
will end at about 1pm. But for the remaining days, they end at about
4pm. Different JCs have different time schedules. |

|
| Q: |
What are the subjects offered in the science
stream in JC? |
| A: |
Too many to list. Here are some common ones - Physics, Maths
C, Chemistry, Biology, F Maths and Econs. |
| |
|
| Q: |
If a student takes Maths Syllabus D for O Level,
what maths subject must he take when he is in JC? |
| A: |
You are advised to take AO Maths because Maths C is more difficult
than A Maths. If you haven't took A maths, it would be an uphill struggle
to do Math C. |
| |
|
| Q: |
If a student takes Combined Science for O level,
can he make it to a Science Stream in JC? |
| A: |
Of course. With hard work, nothing is impossible. You only
need to put in more effort. |
| |
|
| Q: |
What is the minimum number of subjects one should
take for both A Level? |
| A: |
You must take at least 2 AO level subjects and 3 A level subjects.
If you are very good in your results (aggregate less than 10 points),
you can take 4 A level subjects. But then again, every college has its own requirements for taking up 4 A level subjects. |
| |
|
| Q: |
What is the difference between A and AO Level? |
| A: |
They are just acronyms used by MOE to confuse students. Examples
of AO level subjects are General Paper, Chinese, AO maths. Examples
of A level subjects are physics, econs, maths C, chemistry, geography
and history. |
| |
|
| Q: |
What if a student misses the chance of getting
into a JC in the first 3 months but is able to do so when the O Level
results are out, is he able to catch up with the work there? |
| A: |
Yes. Normally those who have studied in the first 3 months
have no headstart because most of them play all day! So don't worry
if u haven't studied during the 3 months. |
| |
|
| Q: |
Must a student take any additional subject to
help him excel in a particular subject when he doesn't take during his
Os? (e.g. O Level Pure Physics to help in A Level Physics when only
took O Level Combined Science) |
| A: |
It is advised that you have taken O level pure physics to
take A level Physics. It will be more difficult if you have taken combined
science. But like I have said, nothing is impossible. If you really
want to work hard, you can take any subject. |
